The Great UKYA Easter Egg Hunt!

You made it here!

Welcome to Very Bad Wolf, and to the UKYA Easter Egg Hunt.

I’m Gillian Philip (in case you haven’t met me before) and I write… well, a whole lot of things, but my books include fantasy (the Rebel Angels series), dystopian fiction (Bad Faith), contemporary crime (Crossing the Line, The Opposite of Amber), animal fantasy (Erin Hunter’s Survivors), MG adventure (Mysteries of Ravenstorm Island), horror (Darke Academy)… and lots more.

Right now I’m immersed in a new fantasy story. Paradoxically, what I love most about fantasy is the scope it gives me to write about reality – to investigate the world we live in through the prism of worlds that are ‘other’. I like writing about flesh-and-blood humans – but giving them different lives, different worlds, lets me find a whole extra dimension in their struggles. It challenges me to find out what they’re really made of…

Today I’m part of the Great UKYA Easter Egg Hunt – where one lucky winner is going to win a huge grand prize of signed books by over thirty YA authors who write and live in the UK. Thirty. You heard it right! I’m contributing a copy of Firebrand (Book 1 of Rebel Angels) and a copy of Bad Faith.

If you came here from another blog in the UKYA chain, you know the drill by now – join the hunt by counting the eggs!

All you have to do is read this post, and count how many UKYA branded Easter eggs you see (careful, though – not including the unbranded eggs in the banner on the blog contents page). Once you’ve done that, simply follow the link at the end to the next blog. Keep going until you get back to the blog where you started, and add up how many eggs you’ve seen along the way.

And seriously, that’s all there is to it!

When you’re done and your eggs are collected and counted, email your answer to: UKYA2015egghunt@gmail.com. A winner will be chosen at random from all correct entries, and contacted by email.

This competition closes at noon (UK time) on Sunday, 5th April, and is open internationally.

So get finding those eggs! – not to mention some awesome UKYA authors and books along the way. That includes the next author in the chain, who is the fabulous Bryony Pearce – she’s at:

http://bryonypearce.wordpress.com

So go on, go on – hop over there now! (and that’s my one-and-only Easter Bunny pun, I promise)…

Happy hunting, and GOOD LUCK!

I love that fantasy challenges you to find out what people are made of! I also love that sometimes, when the moment is just right, it helps us realise that there are some universal human things that even a world without physics or taxes has hidden within it.

    • Exactly, Mia! In fantasy you can address any aspect of society that we have in our own world. Writing fantasy doesn’t reduce your ability to be “realistic”, but rather adds an extra dimension 🙂

Welcome to the blog, and thanks for commenting!
